Wiebke Langer

Head of German Secondary Department Member of the Senior Management Team, German Swiss International School

Ms Langer has been working at GSIS for over two years and as Department Head, she drives curriculum planning, development of pedagogical concepts and related teaching methods and digitalisation.  She selects new faculty staff and coaches newcomers, manages the Department’s resources and budgets, as well as conducting admission interviews with new students. Before coming to Hong Kong, Ms Langer worked at a High School in Munich for many years. Teamwork and teaching methods that focus on autonomous and cooperative learning and the development of competencies are essential parts of the pedagogical concept at that school. Ms Langer is proud to be a key member of the SMT within an international, open-minded community that embraces diversity and strives to empower their students, encouraging them to be self-reliant and critical thinkers, leading to the German International Abitur which she coordinates.  This diploma is equivalent to the IB and opens the doors to universities around the world.
